In 1889, our founders, Rudolf Schülke and Julius Mayr, developed the first brand-named disinfectant - Lysol®. In 1892, this groundbreaking product was instrumental in combating the raging cholera epidemic in Hamburg, Germany. What began with the protection of people from harmful microorganisms was carried over into the protection of industrial and cosmetic products. In 1978, schülke launched its first cosmetic preservative: euxyl® K 100. Sensiva® SC 50 (ethylhexylglycerin) was launched in 1993, introducing a new category of multifunctional additives for use in personal care products. Since then, our numerous innovations have helped the cosmetics industry, while remaining focused on what is most important to us – protecting lives worldwide. schülke inc. is the US subsidiary of Schülke & Mayr GmbH.
