We are a startup NGO with a burning desire to do whatever it takes to change the world, and believe education is the way. Leadership is the most important skill to develop to solve the world's most dire problems, while those with first-hand experience fully understand the problem. We created the Crucible Business Academy in Madagascar to teach leadership skills to Malagasy students. A system of poverty, poor education, corruption and a lack of confidence diminish the impact of leaders. We started the Academy to bring a new culture into this system heralded by new leaders. Leaders who are taught by the latest research in educational psychology, business efficacy, and ethics. Leaders who forge their skills in the crucible of entrepreneurship. Every year our high school students start real businesses with real consequences. As students succeed and fail, their teachers help them understand their experiences in weekly retrospectives. Crucible Business Academy teaches students via the scrum process holding weekly sprints and rotating students through different roles, responsibilities, and teams. After four years of rigorous schooling, each cohort has built four businesses from the ground up.
