Eurotech’s managing director, Selwyn Smith, began his career in the display and signs industry in the 1990s. Selwyn was significantly involved in the fabrication of wire and tubular steel products for big supermarkets like Coles, product makers like Nylex, wholesalers like Manassen Foods. In the late 1990s, a separate corporation for the exhibition and display sector was created. The new display company was Able Displays. As the company grew, it became necessary to bring graphic printing in-house in order to fulfil the deadlines of a variety of organisations and institutes. That proved to be an unsuccessful business path, splitting Eurotech too thin. We identified a need for a fresh strategy to stay focused on what we did well when the company was searching for new sectors to enter. We decided that providing print was a direct conflict with our clients. We then refocussed on our main strength, being signage hardware, creating Eurotech Group as it is today.
