Para Adelante is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to impoverished indigenous women in Guatemala, with the goal to extend its reach throughout Latin America. Currently, the organization is funding two women in San Juan la Laguna. One of the women, Francisca, is working on a degree in law and will be one of the first female indigenous lawyers in the geographic region. The other woman, Yeymi, is getting a degree in social work. Both women are mothers, survivors of domestic violence, and committed to helping other women in their communities break out of a violent, and potentially deadly, home environment.
