Southern Grocery Company is the newest member of the Southern Foods at Home family, which was founded by entrepreneurial food enthusiast, Victor Nussbaum, Jr. in 1954. Nussbaum’s lifelong dream was to create a business to support his growing family… by delivering high-quality groceries & meats right to the doorsteps of fellow residents in his hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina. With that enterprising vision in mind—Nussbaum took a leap of faith and started up his very own food delivery company, using a single used pickup truck and one delivery driver. He began building his customer base simply by knocking on doors around the community to generate interest and drum up sales. Nussbaum had no idea, however, that his concept of bringing premium products directly to customers at home would evolve into one of the largest food service operations in the Southeast. Today Southern Foods at Home continues to provide fresh, artisan-prepared goods to restaurants, resort hotels, country clubs & other fine dining venues. Its newest member of the family, Southern Grocery Company, provides those very same great products…but on a much smaller scale. Our goal at Southern Grocery is to bring gourmet goodness right to your doorstep, no matter how large or small your household is in size.
