Aristeas
www.aristeas.euARISTEAS (Advancing Research Infrastructure & Scientific Techniques in Archaeological Science) is a NSRF funded project led by Professor Nikolaos Zacharias of the Laboratory of Archaeometry at the University of the Peloponnese(UoP), Kalamata, Greece. The project aims to enhance the infrastructure of the LA@UOP, by the acquisition of equipment in three significant fields of Archaeological Sciences: analysis of archaeomaterials, remote sensing and digital technologies. The project will focus on the formulation of Best Research Practices in the above-mentioned fields, incorporating basic archaeometric techniques with state-of the-art equipment. The Project Team will conduct high quality research in a wide range of archaeological materials and sites, taking advantage of the rich Cultural Heritage of the Peloponnese. At the same time, a large number of international young researchers will be hosted in the facilities of LA@UOP to implement short-time research projects. Thus, ARISTEAS Research Methodologies and Best Practices will be extensively tested and the overall outcomes of the project will be diffused in the international research community. Throughout the project, specialised webinars, workshops and conferences will be held, allowing the wider diffusion of both the overarching Best Research Practices and the research outcomes of each project. Overall, ARISTEAS will reinforce the position of LA@UOP as one of the leading centres of archaeometric research in Greece. The research programme is co-funded by national and EU resources and is implemented within the context of the NSRF operational programme “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation 2014-2020 (EPAnEk)” of the ministry of Development and Investment of the Hellenic Republic.
