Meditation • Karate • Community Granite Forest Sangha meets on the first Monday of every month at 8:30 p.m. We enjoy Mindfulness Meditation in the tradition of Zen Master Thầy Thích Nhất Hạnh. Granite Forest Karate welcomes all students interested in the challenge of self-improvement. We are a family-friendly, traditional Japanese Shotokan Karate school, affiliated with the prestigious International Shotokan Karate Federation. Founder Bruce Costa and his highly trained instructors specialize in welcoming beginning students. Sensei Costa is author of Welcome To Karate: 9 Kyu, a guide for the beginning karate student. He has trained since 1980 directly with Master Teruyuki Okazaki, Chairman of the ISKF, and with many other world-reknowned masters. We serve as the Headquarters of the Christopher Court Foundation, created in honor of our cherished student who was found to have a brain tumor at age seven. Like so many others, he lost his fight only ten months later. The CCF has raised over $150,000 toward pediatric brain tumor research at the world-renowned Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Granite Forest Dojo holds many community events in support of these efforts.
