MUNSCR

www.munscr.com

MUNSCR is a Model United Nations that PSCORE* is organizing internationally to raise awareness of the significance of Korean reunification and the problems surrounding the human rights of North Korean citizens. Ultimately, MUNSCR will hold two main themes, which are 1) Encourage peaceful dialogue on the reunification of the Korean peninsula, and 2) Call for human rights improvement in North Korea. *PSCORE stands for ‘People for Successful COrean REunification’; we adopted the original spelling ‘Corea’ from the prior era to Japanese colonization and the division of Korea to further emphasize its goal of a reunited peninsula. This year, we’re holding our first-ever MUNSCR 2021 from April 2nd to 4th in a virtual setting. We’re happy to invite undergraduate and graduate students who reside all over the world to join us. The conference will set the General Assembly of the United Nations as a model and open five committees in total; 1. DIS committee – A: The protection of North Korean Defectors; exploitation, trafficking, and refoulement 2. DIS committee – B: Regional Security and Nuclear Disarmament on the Korean peninsula 3. SHC committee – A: Human Rights Violations in North Korea (BEGINNER) 4. SHC committee – B: Civic Space and Surveillance in North Korea 5. Special committee: Inter-Korean Relations, Reunification and the Response of the International Community (Beginners are encouraged to apply for the Special Committee) ~Timeline of MUNSCR~ - Chairs Application Due: February 10th (Wednesday) - Delegates Application Due: February 27th (Saturday) - Position and Policy Paper & Negotiation Paper Submission Due: March 20th (Sunday) - MUNSCR Conference: April 2nd (Friday) ~ April 4th (Sunday)
