The ALERT (Australian Lymphoedema Education, Research and Treatment) Program aims to optimise positive outcomes for people at risk of or living with lymphoedema, lipedema and other chronic oedemas. The team brings together diverse and correlative expertise in areas such as occupational therapy, physiotherapy, reconstructive microsurgery, oncology, rehabilitation medicine, and clinical medicine, to create innovation in the medical sector that leads to positive impact for practitioners and their patients. We are practitioners within the MQ Health Lymphoedema Clinic. We deliver management of all types and stages of lymphoedema, lipedema and chronic oedemas to provide the best service to our patients. Our goal is to provide patients with a comprehensive service that best suits their individual situation. This treatment is of the highest standard, as it is informed and supported by research and education initiatives. We are educators, enabling the continued professional development and qualifications for health professionals. We provide students with access to cutting-edge ideas and technology, evidence-based innovation and research, and the resources needed to become a leader in the field. Our program has been designed utilising established educational frameworks, including the Macquarie University micro credentialling and curriculum architecture, as well as the Australasian Lymphology Associations Competency Standards. We are researchers, making exciting leaps in the understanding and treatment of chronic oedemas. This includes the development of exciting new diagnostic methods for lymphoedema and lipedema, as well as non-evasive treatment practices and many more discoveries. By combining academic excellence with clinical practice, we are driven by the desire to innovate in ways that lead to direct impact. We understand the challenges faced by our patients and want to provide them with the greatest possible chance for a positive outcome.
