WebSurg (IRCAD)
www.websurg.comIRCAD is also known for its virtual university, WebSurg (World Electronic Book of Surgery). This website allows surgeons from all over the world to train online for free in the different techniques of minimally invasive surgery. Created in 2000 by Professor Jacques Marescaux and his teams, this site aims to highlight the latest medical and surgical techniques, thanks to a video library of more than 4,000 videos of laparoscopic, endoscopic and robotic surgery in high definition and a Faculty of more than 2,000 authors. Every month, the site publishes new videos of minimally invasive surgery, designed by surgeons and intended for the surgical community, in different specialties. These videos can be classified into different categories, ranging from surgical procedures to expert opinions. WebSurg’s e-learning has been accredited by the UEMS-EACCME (European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education) since 2002. This guarantees that the continuing education points obtained via the site are recognized throughout Europe and can be converted into AMA (American Medical Association) credits. The site has nearly 470,000 members, making it the largest international community of surgeons and positioning WebSurg as the global reference for online learning in minimally invasive surgery. (With the support of our industrial partners Karl Storz and Medtronic.)
