ETCC: Emerging Technologies Coordinating Council

www.etcc-ca.com

To help achieve the state’s ambitious energy savings goals, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Southern California Edison, Southern California Gas Company, San Diego Gas & Electric, and the California Energy Commission created the Emerging Technologies Coordinating Council (ETCC) with oversight from the California Public Utilities Commission. The ETCC Leadership Team has grown to include California’s largest municipal utilities, Sacramento Municipal Utility District, and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. The ETCC provides a collaborative forum for its members to exchange information on opportunities and results from their Emerging Technologies activities. Efforts are focused on identification, assessment, and support for commercialization of energy-reducing technologies, such as advanced lighting, water heating, space heating and air-conditioning systems, for residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial customers. The ETCC also focuses nationally and internationally by leveraging partnerships with universities and research organizations, consulting firms, professional associations, technology companies, venture capitalists, and utilities. By doing so, the ETCC draws on expertise in various fields for determining the potential of energy-efficient technologies. These partners provide key insight to technical and economic feasibility of technologies, as well as provide access to new discoveries being made all over the world. Finally, the ETCC creates linkages and supports integration across diverse utility initiatives such as demand response, storage, distributed generation, and electric vehicles.
