Crawford Mfg. Co was founded on the basis of one simple principle: higher quality products. J.D. Miller, a member of Ohio’s Amish community, worked as a machine mechanic at a local saw mill before opening his own small-engine repair shop. After experiencing frustration with the inferior quality of aftermarket springs, he decided to make his own. He went on to sell those springs and other aftermarket products to other shops in the region, and the small-engine repair shop transformed into a fully dedicated manufacturing company. The business expanded through the 70s, 80s, and 90s, as he added wire forming, stamping and assembly to Crawford’s capabilities. Crawford weathered the difficult economic times in the 2000s and in late 2010, J.D.’s son Dan and daughter-in-law Martha became the new owner, allowing his father to retire. J.D continues to pass on his knowledge and experience as a consultant for Crawford. Dan, Martha, and their daughter Mary are part of the Crawford team that continues, through hard work, dedication, and experience, to produce excellent products with ingenuity.
