Fieldbot’s smartly repurposed "high-speed constant move" irrigation pivot, when newly used for more effectively applying crop protectants, e.g., herbicides (weed pressures), pesticides (insect pressures), and fungicides (disease pressures) on potato crops as an all-electric and autonomous alternative to conventional petroleum-based application methods such as ground sprayers and aircraft, results in significantly higher potato yields at a much lower production cost with no gas or diesel emissions. Compared to conventional petroleum-based ground and aerial crop protectant spray application methods, chemigation (injecting crop protectants directly into the irrigation water) via all-electric, high-speed constant move irrigation pivots provides better application coverage and timing combined with reduced wind drift and deeper canopy penetration (more available water) resulting in increased overall input use efficiency that both optimizes water and chemical usage (less water-energy and chemical) and extends the total growing days for increased crop yields with improved quality. And this modern production agriculture transformation is only the first step toward a far more efficient and highly profitable method for sustainably growing high-value crops such as potatoes, onions, sugar beets, carrots, and alfalfa.
