Exoneration Project
www.exonerationproject.orgThe Exoneration Project is an Illinois not-for-profit legal services organization. We are a dedicated team of attorneys, paralegals, and law students who work tirelessly for individuals all over the country wrongfully convicted for crimes they did not commit. The EP is one of the best-funded, largest, and most successful innocence projects in the country. To date, we have exonerated over 150 clients, liberating them to live their lives and enjoy their freedom. By investigating and petitioning courts to reverse wrongful convictions, our Exoneration Project is dedicated to restoring justice. To prove our clients’ innocence, we provide free forensic testing, experts, investigative services, and an experienced litigation team to get our clients home where they belong. Beyond assisting our clients with their claims of actual innocence in court, we also strive to shed light on the problems in the criminal justice system that allow innocent people to be convicted of crimes and to increase interest among attorneys in representing clients in need of post-conviction assistance. We also operate a clinic at the University of Chicago Law School. Attorneys and support staff from Chicago area civil rights law firms work with law students to represent clients wrongfully convicted of crimes.
