Registered as a Charity in 2017, Lumi Foundation started as outreach activity for Lumi Power Yoga, winner of Hammersmith Brilliant Business Award Public Vote Category (2016 and 2017). Lumi Foundation provides yoga to people and communities who would otherwise not have access to yoga classes, workshops and trainings. With its roots in Hammersmith and Fulham, Lumi Foundation delivers nearly 20 free or very accessible (£1) yoga classes each week, reaching more than 100 people in the local community. Since its creation, Lumi Foundation has delivered over 800 yoga classes. Lumi Foundation brings the powerful tools of yoga and meditation to a wide range of groups including people on low income (partnering with Community Champion projects, Bayonne and Field, Charecroft and West Gibbs estates), disabled adults (MENCAP and Action on Disability) and children (Log Cabin afterschool club), elderly groups (Age UK and council projects), women surviving from domestic abuse (ADVANCE) and addicts in recovery (FIRM). Lumi Foundation works with partner organisations with demand for yoga and provides accessible and adaptable classes on mats, chairs and various variations to fit the needs of yoga practitioners.
