www.abiove.org.brABIOVE, the Brazilian Oilseed Processors Association, was founded on June 11th, 1981 and has 13 members companies who are responsible for approximately 56 percent of Brazil's soybean processing volume. Brazil is responsible for some 32 percent of the world's soybean production, with the estimate of a production of 113.8 million tonnes in the 2016/17 crop. The country is the the second World's largest producer and exporter of soybeans, soybean meal and soybean oil. The soybean complex, which gathers the productive chain of soybean, soybean meal and soybean oil, is one of the main items in the country's Trade Balance. In 2016 Brazilian soybean complex exports reached US$ 25.4 billion. The vegetable oil industries also produce other several items for the food industry, such as fat, margarine and vegetable cremes, lecithin, tocoferol and proteins. ABIOVE's objective is to represent the vegetable oil industries, support its members, generate statistics and prepare sectorial studies, cooperate with the Brazilian government as regards policies related to this sector and promote sustainable programs for the productive chain.
