The Prime 8 Art League's mission is to support emerging and practicing artists. In order to provide ongoing support for emerging artists and youth art programs, The Prime 8 Art League's (Art League) plans, coordinates and executes art-themed events. These events serve to both raise awareness for the arts and artists and, through these events, to raise capital that can be used to directly support under-funded art programs throughout the Chicago area. The Art League was formed based on the dual realities that it is becoming increasingly difficult for professional artists to be compensated for their work, and that public funding for school art programs is disappearing, depriving a generation of students of valuable instruction in the visual arts. The Art League provides financial compensation and exposure to emerging artists to use as a stepping stone in advancing their careers, and, at the same time, produces events which generate additional revenue that can be distributed to worthwhile youth art programs. We created The Prime 8 Art League's around the concept of inclusion for all aspiring artists, creating an environment that nurtures inspiration and creativity, and with the knowledge that exposure to the visual arts enhances personal, emotional, and social qualities and builds a sense of empowerment.
