ECOO | Educational Computing Organization of Ontario
www.ecoo.orgThe Educational Computing Organization of Ontario (ECOO) is an Ontario not-for-profit established in 1979 for the purpose of facilitating the integration of new computing technology into the educational curriculum. Operations of the organization are coordinated by an annually-elected volunteer Board of Directors. Each year ECOO hosts an annual fall conference, allowing educators to gather from all over Ontario (and beyond) to share and learn from on another. A large number of educators and administrators attend this three day conference. Presenters include industry professionals, instructional leaders from K-12 and higher education, as well as many classroom teachers. The conference is organized and facilitated by a committee of approximately 20 volunteers. Keynote speakers at the annual conference in recent years have included Gary Stager, Ian Jukes, Alec Couros, Will Richardson, Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach, John Seely Brown, Nora Young, Michael Fullen, Jaime Casep, and have featured such themes as "Learn to Play, Play to Learn," and "Learning in the NOW Century" Since 2013, the annual conference has been held each fall in Niagara Falls, Ontario, featuring the theme, "Bring IT, Together." Information is available at bringITtogether.ca Starting in 2018, ECOO began hosting regional ECOOcamp events. In 2020 and 2021, in response to COVID, these events moved online as a province-wide summer learning events. The ECOOcamp Ontario 2021 conference takes place August 18 & 19.
