Migraine at Work
www.migraineatwork.orgWe are a nonprofit coalition dedicated to improving workplaces in the US. Migraine affects 39M Americans (disproportionately affecting women) and is the 2nd leading cause of disability. Yet it continues to lack the awareness that it warrants, especially at the workplace. Our mission is to make workplaces (of various industries and sizes) a better place to work - one that is healthier, stigma-free and more productive and supportive. Many people do not understand the severity of this disabling neurological disease. Oftentimes, managers do not think it is a valid reason for missing work. Due to its invisible nature, many are thought to be "making it up" as an excuse for absenteeism. Migraine stigma can often result in employees hiding their disease. This can be detrimental to one's health and even possibly their career. The team at Migraine at Work (MAW) is committed to changing this. We are working to educate employers and employees on Migraine disease, the impact that migraine has on their organization and bottom line, workplace rights, and accommodations. We want to empower Migraine patients to speak up about their condition and get the support they need from their leaders and teams. Just because you have Migraine, it doesn't mean you have to suffer in silence or potentially fear your career or job security. Join our groups today for helpful tools and resources about managing Migraine at the workplace and advocating for change!
