chcs.uncg.eduThe UNCG Center for Housing and Community Studies (CHCS) is a community-engaged and applied research institution specializing in geospatial research, multi-modal data collection, and mixed-method analysis. The Center uses these skills to develop community-informed solutions to social problems addressing housing and neighborhood issues for governments, nonprofits, foundations, and institutions of higher education. We also incorporate grounded solutions to provide education and outreach promoting individual through systems-level change. By pushing the limits of what is possible in housing research and education, we collectively work towards fair, equitable and peaceful communities in solidarity with those families and neighborhoods that are most vulnerable. We see housing as a universal human right. Our mission is to stabilize housing, reduce cost-burdens, and improve housing quality through social-impact policies, inclusionary practices, and shared-interest collaborations.
