The Middle Eastern Women and Society organisation was established in 2010 with the aim of overcoming the isolation of vulnerable women who have suffered from domestic and honour-related violence. Since then it has been working in local communities all over London to forge networks of female refugees, to enable them to become friends, share experiences, advice and support each other to beat isolation. MEWSo provides welfare and health care workshops, counselling and befriending services. We are able to provide Middle Eastern displaced women with the support that public, local services cannot. Its action is now expanding to the promotion of women’s civil rights in the community.
