Started in 2009, Studio V has grown to become a dynamic musical community, encompassing learners and profressionals from every walk of life. Alumni of the Studio have gone on to study at the Manhatten School of Music, Berklee College of Music, Walnut Hill, and Mercy Hurst, amongst others. Studio V has taught concert pianists, professional DJ’s, award winning electronic artists, and numerous musical enthusiasts that have created a musical community where all are welcome. ACHIEVEMENTS: Studio V considers its students and alumni to be its biggest achievement, as its community is the heart of its success. The Studio has routinely been distinguished by the partnership and trust of various local and national entities, including partnering with Washington Performing Arts Society and the Washington Ballet at the Kennedy Center for DC Pride 2015 and being featured and promoted by Capital One Bank in advertisements. The Studio routinely engages in community events, sponsoring Art Openings on U Street, having a float in the DC Pride Parade, and spawning the creation of Guerrilla Music, Inc. GOALS: Studio V continues to try to revitalize its curriculum, its practices, and its objectives through routine review and continuous scrutiny. The Studio maintains high expectations for its students and its community, but couples these expectations with a supportive and holistic musical community that enriches the journey and makes the musical relationships a lifestyle. The Studio is always seeking to envision new areas for its members and students to find development. It continues to seek out new ways and old ways that will make the music a living tradition in which its students and community feel ownership.
