The CDCA mission is to research and provide information about both the causes of the environmental conflicts produced by the exploitation of natural resources, and its consequences. This often include a disregard for local communities rights. By offering first-hand information and localised data, the CDCA also plans to spur public interest and discussion in Italy and EU about policies carried out by International financial institutions, and issues of social justice, by giving voice to the local communities and social movement. The Fields of investigation are mainly: Energy, Waste management, Infrastructure, Industrial plant, Public healt, Environmental rights, Climate change, Social corporate responsability. The services that CDCA provides are: - Public Library: a national public library including a variety of documents produced by local research centres and independent organisations - Web Site and Atlas: the website provides free and easy access to various archives, document collections and a database with over a hundred environmental conflict cases studies. - Public Events - Education and Training Services: for teachers, students, trainers,public administrations, trade unions and professionals on different topics, especially on political ecology and ecological economics, environmental sustainability. - Network: The CDCA is part of the European network CEECEC – (www.ceecec.net) – which includes academics, researchers and lobbyists and is part of the EJOLT structure. Besides, the Centre can rely on the strong network in Ecuador with Acciòn Ecologica and other social like CONAIE (Confederation od Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador), in Nigeria thank’s to the fruitful partnership with ERA and in Bolivia, Brasil, Colombia- among others- and their indigenous communities.
