More than 20 years ago we held our first media skills workshop. That has evolved into small group, large group and one-on-one training that can be delivered over the course of a day or in one-hour chunks. We create scenarios for participants that are recorded and critiqued in real time. We are in the business of helping to prepare for and then manage a crisis. Rockford Gray’s solution to crisis response is four fold: 1. Create or update an actionable Crisis Plan. 2. Train the crisis team on how to execute on that plan through simulation exercises. 3. Provide real-time counsel to clients during crises. 4. Evaluate effectiveness, revise the plan and train again to keep everyone current. For presentation skills training we start by delivering Rockford Gray’s 12 Steps to Better Presentations. And then through videotaping simulated performances by our subject, we are able to identify strengths and weaknesses in the participant’s communication style. From this baseline, we then pinpoint positive communication behaviors that need to be converted into effective communication habits. Rockford Gray is also in the business of providing both strategic direction and media relations counsel either for short-term engagements, or over the length of a campaign.
