The Coding School
www.the-cs.orgThe Coding School (TCS) is a national 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering the next generation through code. Founded by a Brown University undergraduate in 2014, we offer a range of coding programs to ensure coding is accessible, supportive, and empowering. To date, we have four programs: a 4-year in-classroom; codeConnects, which offers one-on-one coding lessons and mentorship to underrepresented youth; virtual classrooms; and a program for students with learning disabilities. With a team of over 600 computer scientists as instructors, we've taught over 40,000 hours of coding instruction to students in 40 states and 11 countries. To ensure the highest quality of curriculum and instruction, we are partnered with: UCLA School of Engineering, USC Viterbi School of Engineering and STEM Consortium, and Villanova. Through our organization, we aim to tackle large-scale, structural problems through our innovative coding initiatives, including addressing wealth inequality and social mobility, diversity in tech, and reinvigorating disadvantaged communities, such as homeless populations.
