We have studied the private equity and venture capital markets in The Netherlands carefully and came to the conclusion that above mentioned start-ups and scale-ups have difficulty to get properly funded in The Netherlands. The reason is that funding parties in The Netherlands have a tendency for small-mindedness in terms of financial support. The modern-day reality is that VC financiers will keep entrepreneurs on a short leash in order to limit their risks. This results in small-scale financing rounds in order to bridge the period from milestone to milestone.
