Government Economics Network

www.gen.org.nz

The NZ Government Economics Network – GEN – was established in 2011 to promote the better use of economics in the public sector in New Zealand. GEN caters to economists and non-economists as well as both public and private sectors. We run professional development (seminars, training and an annual conference) and social events throughout the year to upskill economists and policy professionals, and encourage the use of economics in public policy decision. Events stimulate lively debate and discussion on economic and public policy research. In 2020, GEN launched the $2000 Dr Ed Hearnshaw Prize in economics and the environment, to support innovative thinking in students and young professionals. GEN also aims to foster linkages between economists across the private, public and academic sectors, and strengthen economic advice to government. Contact us if you’ve an economics-related event or job you’d like us to share information on. Keep an eye on this page for upcoming training, events and economics-related job postings.
