Stichting Huurdersbelang Stadswonen | SHS
www.huurdersbelang.nlStichting Huurdersbelang Stadswonen (SHS) is the interest group for more than 6500 tenants of Stadswonen, part of Woonstad. Our target audience consists of students and 'young professionals' who rent from the housing corporation Stadswonen/Woonstad. SHS's objective is to promote the interests of these tenants. Simultaneously, we want future students to be able to live comfortably and affordably through Stadswonen, and that departing tenants, including those at the end of their campus contract, are also able to rent or buy affordable housing in Rotterdam. In the Dutch Consultation Between Tenants and Landlords Act (Overlegwet), the government stipulates that tenants of housing corporations are entitled to collective representation and are entitled to information, consultation, giving advice or putting matters on the housing corporation's agenda. Based on the powers under the Consultation Act, SHS represents the interests of the tenants of Stadswonen/Woonstad. In addition, we also look beyond Stadswonen/Woonstad. Many matters that have an impact on tenants or the living environment of our target group are determined by government policy. To this end, SHS monitors both political developments and the development of relevant government policy. We want to be aware at an early stage of developments that may have an impact on our target group and to connect with stakeholders.
