PRODETUR was established on August 4, 2006 and had its background in Promotora for tourism development created on May 12, 2003. The founding purpose of PRODETUR is to provide a multidisciplinary response to the need of promoting the country's development; using tourism as an articulating axis in geographic areas that present a high potential to materialize touristic activity in their territories. Maintaining the harmonization between economic, social and environmental aspects in all its interventions ensuring the sustainability of its projects. The three areas of work of PRODETUR are local economic development, the promotion of MSMEs, and the management of Projects.
