Originally started back in 1979, Ideal Steel was the original member of the Ideal Group. But it all started with a little bit of luck…Frank Venegas Jr. won a 1979 Cadillac Coupe deVille at the raffle during Livingston County Builders Gala Dinner Dance. After cruising in his new Cadillac for nine days, Frank decided to sell his prize car to start Ideal Steel & Builder’s Supplies, Inc. Ideal Steel started off focusing mainly on house beams, steel I-beams, culverts, and columns for residential homes before moving into the small commercial industry. Today, the family-owned, Southwest Detroit staple continues to work on projects of all sizes around the state of Michigan and the United States.
