Charnaud was founded in 1972 by Fiona and Andrew Charnaud to manufacture industrial rainwear for the South African market. Involvement in the hot metal market goes back to 1978, including the primary aluminium smelter market since 1999 with the in-house developed ALu-SAFE, a material which resisted molten aluminium and cryolite splash.
