With depression, chronic disease, and the cost of healthcare on the rise, I set out on a mission to create a primary care model that would put the power back into the hands of the patient. I found myself, like most, asking the same question every time I needed care “does my insurance cover that?” I stepped into my own personal “what the health” journey and quickly saw the oz behind the curtain of healthcare. As a child we ask why, as adults that fades into the whirlwind of life. I took my child-like senses and began to question the quality of my own care and saw I was not alone in my experiences. We all pay our insurance premiums, copays, deductibles, and still receive a bill in the mail, we barely know our doctor (our doctor barely knows us), we are all over-prescribed and under-treated, and mind and body continue to be treated as mutually exclusive in the traditional medical world.
