It was established, as a result of the founder’s - Ms Toyin Adesola - experience living with Sickle Cell Disorder as well as her discovery (while writing her book “Still Standing”) that many people lacked knowledge about the Disorder. Our vision: Build a society where Sickle Cell Disorder (SCD) is reduced and people with the Disorder - as well as their families - are able to lead healthy, positive and productive lives. educating, creating awareness, and providing support through a strategic partnership. Our mission: Empower and improve the lives of people, especially with SCD through strategic partnerships via educating, empowering, creating awareness, and providing support. SAMI Board Members Mr Foluso Phillips (Chairman, Phillips Consulting), Mrs Tope Jemerigbe (MD, DKK Advertising), Mr Femi Olubanwo (Partner Banwo & Ighodalo - Solicitors), Dr Abimbola Mabogunje ( Medical Consultant) Mr Moses Ida -Micheal Toyin Adesola (Executive Director SAMI) Advisory Mrs Foluke Ogunbekun (Impact Learning Expert) Mr Ayodeji Jeremiah (Editor-in-Chief, Timeless Newspaper) Mr Sola Abiloye (Solicitor) Mr Sola Abiloye (Solicitor Mrs Debola Deji-Kurunmi (Ieadation Hub) SAMI is currently involved in the following projects: XTRA CARE Project – a monthly clinic, health insurance, and mental health counselling and empowerment Better You Health Club – is a co-curricular school project aimed at empowering children of secondary school age with requisite knowledge and awareness necessary for healthy living and lifestyle Touch a Cell Radio Show - an interactive edutainment series that aims to educate people with sickle cell and their families on, their rights, responsibilities and obligations thereby giving them a voice so as to help foster healthy relationships between health personnel and people with SCD.
