Catalina Sea Ranch is the first offshore aquaculture facility in U.S. Federal waters. We harvest clean, healthy, and sustainable California-grown Mediterranean mussels. We are a pioneering aquaculture business and research venture located at Berth 58 in the Port of Los Angeles. The ranch is located on the San Pedro Shelf, six miles off the coast and just below the ocean’s surface. While we currently cultivate mussels, we will expand our marine crops to include “sea vegetables”, Giant kelp, red ogo, and dulse, as well as oysters and rock scallops. Our mission is to show the world that offshore aquaculture has the potential to provide food security for the future, restore depleted fisheries and regenerate our oceans.
