Cancer Alliance Queensland

cancerallianceqld.health.qld.gov.au

The Cancer Alliance Queensland model is unique to addressing cancer, cooperating and collaborating across health services, jurisdictions and organisations. The Cancer Alliance Queensland aims to accelerate action on cancer control for all Queenslanders with cancer, in both the public and private sector. Our efforts are collectively focused on the long-term objectives of reducing the incidence of cancer, reducing the likelihood of dying from cancer, evaluating outcomes and improving the quality of life of those affected by cancer. Our work spans the continuum of cancer control from diagnosis to multidisciplinary care through to cancer treatment, end of life and survivorship and cuts across that continuum with initiatives to monitor and improve cancer system performance and mobilise evidence to drive service improvements. Central to this effort is influencing health system administrative structures and policies from the grassroots level to meaningfully create systemic change that measurably supports patient and family needs. Our data tells us that Queensland cancer services generally perform well compared to other states and internationally, however there is room for improvement. The health inequities are greatest for those living in rural and remote communities and between the public and private sectors. Today hundreds of clinicians across Queensland are demonstrating their commitment to safe quality cancer care by embracing systems such as QOOL and participating in Partnership activities. Though we are still growing and now have many responsibilities, we always want to stay true to our roots: clinician led service improvement. The Cancer Alliance Queensland is a recognised innovator, convener, and a trustworthy partner; the first place to turn for expertise, help, and encouragement for anyone, anywhere who wants to profoundly change cancer care for the better.
