Duck Donuts was founded in 2006 by Russ DiGilio in Duck, North Carolina. His intention? To solve a family vacation problem: “Our family wanted a place to buy warm, delicious, made-to-order donuts!, and when we couldn’t find one, we decided to start our own.” Duck Donuts specializes in warm, delicious and made-to-order donuts. Customers can create their own donut combination by choosing from a variety of coatings, toppings and drizzles, including traditional favorites such as chocolate icing with sprinkles and more adventurous creations such as maple icing with bacon. The family-friendly stores offer a viewing area where children and adults alike can watch their donuts being made. Duck Donuts also sells coffee, tea, donut breakfast sandwiches and now offers online ordering in many locations. In February 2019 Duck Donuts announced it's expansion plans to bring Warm, Delicious and Made-to-Order!® donuts to Puerto Rico. In partnership with Puerto Rican natives Jorge L Ramos, Juan C Piñero and Delmarie Ayala, Duck Donuts Puerto Rico, LLC is set to develop three locations over the next three years, with its first location in Plaza Río Hondo, Bayamón.
