KUT and KUTX Public Radio KUT 90.5, established in 1958, and KUTX 98.9, established in 2013, are licensed by the Federal Communications Commission to The University of Texas at Austin and operate as a department within the Moody College of Communication. Both stations strive to be leading sources for knowledge and ideas that enrich and sustain greater Austin’s unique sense of place, cultural identity and position as a center of leadership. With a full-time, dedicated news staff, KUT 90.5, Austin's NPR station, is committed to investigating and delivering Austin-centric news and information, while bringing the culture, music and people that define the Austin experience to its news coverage.
