40 years of golf sector experience. .... Born in UK and resident in Spain since 2003, Roger achieved elite standard at junior and youth golf, and represented Wales. Desiring a career as a professional golfer he began immersed in the day-to-day operations of his local Oswestry GC whilst, in parallel, pursuing his goal to become a tournament-playing professional. A move to neighbouring Hill Valley G&CC allowed both career elements to be progressed. However, within a relatively short period of time he realised that a successful tournament-playing golf career was unachievable and he turned towards the ‘business of golf’ offering golf event management, marketing and consulting services which ultimately led to Roger being asked to design and advise on a new golf facility in his local area. Whilst hosting a golf event in Killarney Ireland, Roger was approached by the facility owner with ‘an idea’ to build a golf course on adjoining land. This ultimately led to Roger being awarded the assignment and relocating to Ireland. Roger lived and worked in Ireland, on numerous projects, for over 20 years before moving to Greece for two large projects, and then to Spain. Roger takes an immersive approach to projects so that regular/intensive supervision throughout all stages can achieve the desired design integrity and construction quality, and therefore optimise the investment being made by the Client. …. but Roger Jones is more than a golf designer / advisor... For more than 25 years he has also been planning and consulting on projects in the broader spheres of tourism and leisure. In his own name and acting with/for larger international firms like THR (Barcelona), Pas Grau International (Andorra & Spain) and Horwath HTL (Global) he has been involved in public and private sector projects in Europe, Africa, Central Asia & the Middle East in both mature and emerging markets.
