www.brunoporto.comHaving worked as graphic designer, educator and consultant since the 1990s, Bruno Porto (Rio de Janeiro, 1971) moved to The Netherlands in 2018, where he currently is a PhD Researcher on visual communication aspects in Comics medium in the School of Humanities and Digital Sciences, Department of Culture Studies, at Tilburg University. Curator of the 12th and 10th Brazilian Graphic Design Biennials (Brasília 2017 and São Paulo 2013), as well as a dozen other graphic arts exhibitions presented in Brazil, China, Colombia, Germany, United Kingdom, Uruguay, Venezuela and Vietnam, his work has been featured in over 50 international publications and exhibited in the Americas, Asia, Africa and Europe. He consistently takes part in design juries for international awards – such as iF Design Awards, Adobe Design Achievement Awards and the CLAP Awards on Graphic Design, Branding and Communication – and national project competitions held in Brazil. He has authored, co-authored and organized several books on design and communication, as well as contributed with numerous publications in Brazil and China. Having sat on the boards of divers Latin American and Brazilian design organizations, he was appointed Ambassador of Latin Design by the Latin Design Committee in Argentina, 2015, and is the recipient of the Brasil Design Award 2017 Honor “for the contribution that his work gives to Brazilian design, being a reference and spokesperson of the industry”. From 2012-2017 he was the program director of the Graphic Design course at Centro Universitário IESB, in Brasília, having also been a faculty member at the Raffles Design Institute (2006-2010) in Shanghai, China, and at Centro Universitário da Cidade (1996-2006) in Rio de Janeiro. He holds a Master's Degree in Communication (Universidade de Brasília), a Postgraduate degree in Marketing and Enterprise Management (Universidade Candido Mendes) and a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design (Faculdade da Cidade).
