Muslims Serve is a 501c(3), non-profit charitable Social and Hunger Relief organization that has been conducting hunger relief services since 2012. Muslims Serve uplifts the Greater Philadelphia and Camden communities by providing free, hot and nutritious meals in order to help the less fortunate members of the surrounding communities. It hopes to develop a forum through which community members can talk to each other about important local issues and work to improve them together. In addition, Muslims Serve encourages the community members of the Islamic Centers to practice a core teaching of Islam in serving the less fortunate, which allows them to become the center of social change and advocates for dispelling any incorrect perceptions of Islam. Currently, Muslims Serve operates at 12 different sites, feeding approximately 2400 beneficiaries every month. Additionally, with the help of Temple University’s Medical Students and Faculty clinic called Al-Shifa, Muslims Serve is able to offer a free health clinic offering blood pressure screenings, glucose screening, podiatry, optometry, and general medical examinations at its sites throughout the year.
