WisCorps, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) conservation corps headquartered in La Crosse, Wisconsin that engages youth and young adults in two areas: conservation projects and nature education. Conservation Corps: Field Crews, Local Crews, and Individual Placements Field & Local Crews complete high-quality projects as they gain technical skills and expand their knowledge of Wisconsin’s natural resources. Crew Leaders and Members are paid a living allowance (or stipend) for their service. Some of the projects WisCorps crews have completed in the Midwest include: -Trail Construction & Rehabilitation -Invasive Species Management -Dry Stone Masonry Installation -Storm Damage Cleanup -Prairie Restoration -Trail Boardwalk & Bridge Construction Our Individual Placement Program provides young conservation professionals with focused, hands-on opportunities to serve alongside and under the guidance of our agency mentors. The Program provides our corpsmembers with a link between the academic and professional space. Nature Education Programs At WisCorps, we believe that environmental and nature education is crucial to the development of schoolchildren, youth, and adults through quality learning experiences in nature and with a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Our goal is to foster appreciation and a sense of stewardship for the environment and our natural resources throughout the La Crosse community and surrounding area as a whole. As a result, individuals will develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues and have the skills to make informed and responsible decisions.
