We work with the University of Rhode Island’s Watershed Watch and SPC Citizen Scientists to manage 20 water-testing sites across 6 ponds and publish the results on our website. SPC works with local, state and federal agencies on environmental initiatives that help preserve the natural abundance of the salt ponds. We help restore the salt marsh habitat in Rhode Island's salt ponds to improve water quality and channel navigation. Enhancing the natural beauty and health of salt ponds contributes to Rhode Island’s vital economic climate of tourism, fishing and water recreation. SPC is committed to assuring that future generations enjoy the recreation and beauty of the ponds. We deliver FREE educational programming, featuring Salt Pond Safaris, Barrier Beach Walks, Student Field Trips, and Kayak Tours. Vigorously educating others on the natural, cultural and historical significance of the salt ponds helps us fulfill our mission to preserve salt ponds for the enjoyment of wildlife and people.
