Our Vision is for all LGBTIQ+ people to feel safe, included and valued within the water industry. The ‘Pride in Water’ initiative is an opportunity to create a more inclusive water industry specifically for LGBTIQ+ staff, contractors and customers. For many, coming out at work isn’t an option due to the fear of discrimination either with their career progression or how they will be treated at work. We are looking to work with the broader water industry in the form of ‘Pride in Water’ to help create a better practice model for the inclusion of the LGBTIQ+ community. The main goals of ‘Pride in Water’ are to provide support and guidance to allow for water authorities and members to build inclusion of the LGBTIQ+ community into their cultures as well as supporting the individuals who work within the water industry and identify with the LGBTIQ+ community. Our measures of success for this initiative are as follows; • To work with other water authorities and members to create a better practice model for the inclusion of the LGBTIQ+ community across the water industry creating safer and more welcoming workplaces • To provide support, guidance and mentoring to the individuals within our industry who identify with the LGBTIQ+ community • To establish ourselves as leader in this space by using evidenced based approaches to LGBTIQ+ inclusion and highlighting the benefits it can offer.
