www.organindia.orgOrgan Receiving & Giving Awareness Network (ORGAN) India is an initiative of the Parashar Foundation and the Vijaya Gujral Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Delhi. ORGAN India Project was initiated in 2013 after our former Chairperson, Late Ms. Kirti Parashar was told that she needed a heart transplant. The family underwent a lot of struggle and realized that there was an urgent and pressing need to raise awareness and disseminate information about organ donation in India. Thanks to a generous organ donor, Kirti Parashar got a new heart which was transplanted into her body on December 13th, 2013. The personal hardships faced by the family motivated them to help other people, and thus giving rise to Project ORGAN India, as an initiative of the Parashar Foundation. Today, it has become one of the key organizations in India working on the issue of organ donation. ORGAN India has a Pan-India presence, and works under the aegis of the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO). Our Aim • Increase the number of donor pledges in India through large-scale information dissemination via various mediums and platforms, spreading awareness about the benefits of organ donation. • Educate and help those suffering from organ failure about their various options, and help them in their ordeal by offering information, advice, counselling. • Influence public policy on organ donation in India by becoming leaders in the public awareness and collaborative effort of all NGOs. Our work encompasses the following: *Health Advocacy *Online and Offline Heath & Education Advocacy and Awareness: *Let’s Get ORGANized School Campaign *Research Projects *Online Tools for Transplant Patients and Donors -Transplant Guide (Transplant Hospital Registry) -24x7 Helpline -Body Donation Directory -Mental Health Initiative *Haryana – 2020 - ‘Angdaan Mahadaan’ Program *Radio Shows on Organ, Tissue & Body Donation *Tieups - MTV, NDTV, YI, Corporates etc.
