Carbon Nexus is the world’s first open-access carbon fibre research centre, situated at Deakin University's Geelong - Waurn Ponds campus. This world-class facility was designed to accommodate the diverse needs of international manufacturing organisations that require cost-effective, strategic solutions to complex carbon fibre-related challenges. Located one hour’s drive from Melbourne in Waurn Ponds, Geelong, this state-of-the-art facility is part of Deakin University’s Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) where global experts come together to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges using materials science. For more than a decade, IFM researchers have been developing new and improved fibres and carbon composites at this facility and have grown to truly understand the needs of the carbon fibre industry. The technology available to researchers and industry through Carbon Nexus is unparalleled, and is truly the nexus of industry, research and teaching for the global fibre community.
