Ford Amateur Astronomy Club
www.fordastronomyclub.comThe Ford Amateur Astronomy Club (FAAC), meeting in Dearborn, Michigan was established in 1992 as an astronomy club within the Ford Employees Recreational Association (FERA) of Ford Motor Company. Currently, members do not need to be Ford employees as membership is open to all astronomy enthusiasts. FAAC is dedicated to encouraging the study of Astronomy and related subjects for the benefit of its members and the general public. The club presently has over 160 members with a wide variety of keen interests ranging from simple naked-eye sky gazing to observing Messier and deep-sky objects, variable star observing, the use of computers, and astro imaging. The Ford Amateur Astronomy Club holds regular general meetings open to the public on the fourth Thursday of every* month at 5:30 PM. Meetings are held at Henry Ford Community College (HFCC) Administrative Services and Conference Center (ASCC map) Berry Amphitheater. (effective May, 2009). *Except November and December (Thanksgiving Day and Christmas holidays) when special dates are selected. 1) to support and encourage the common interest of the membership in amateur astronomy through group observing and other related group activities; 2) to cultivate public awareness and appreciation of astronomy as a hobby and as a science through public "open house" observing sessions and other related public activities; 3) to improve the skills and knowledge of the membership in all areas of amateur astronomy through sharing of experiences and information in lectures, seminars, demonstrations, and other related group activities; 4) to promote interaction among the several area amateur astronomy clubs by proactive organization of joint observing sessions, meetings, and other related joint activities.
