Founded in 2001 in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Oorkaan is the only organization in The Netherlands that has dedicated itself exclusively to the creation of high quality staged concerts for young audiences. Our aim is to give every child the opportunity to experience the power of live music. The staged concerts focus on all kinds of live classical music from all over the world, performed by outstanding musicians. For the creation of the productions, Oorkaan has developed the internationally recognized Oorkaan Method, which makes us unique in the world. Oorkaan presents about 5 music productions per season and organizes roughly 120 performances a year in The Netherlands and abroad. The organization of Oorkaan is comprised of three departments: Production, Research & Development and Education. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OORKAAN maakt met topmusici theatrale concerten voor een jong publiek. Onze missie is om zoveel mogelijk kleine en grote oren de oneindige wereld van muziek te laten ontdekken in verrassende vormen. Oorkaan richt zich op het mondiale klassieke repertoire met muziek uit de hele wereld van vroeger en nu en presenteert zo’n 200 voorstellingen in de grote en kleinere (concert)podia van Nederland en het buitenland. Je kijkt je oren uit! Oorkaan vindt dat alle kinderen toegang moeten kunnen krijgen tot (klassieke) muziek. Zien spelen, doet spelen. Zo draagt Oorkaan bij aan een brede muzikale bagage van vele kinderen in Nederland en daarbuiten. Onze artistieke uitgangspunten samen vormen de Oorkaan-methode: een unieke werkwijze om vanuit en met muziek en musici, theatraal materiaal te maken dat aansluit bij de belevingswereld van het kind. De organisatie bestaat uit 3 afdelingen: Productie, Research & Development en Educatie.
