Our mission is to help people with disabilities understand and exercise their rights under the law, ensuring their full and equal participation in society. Our headquarters are in Austin, and we have regional offices in Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, Lubbock, McAllen, and San Antonio. Our services include: - Providing direct legal assistance to people with disabilities whose rights are threatened or violated - Protecting the rights of individuals and groups of people with disabilities through the courts and justice system - Advocating for laws and public policies that protect and advance the rights of people with disabilities - Informing people with disabilities and family members about their rights - Making referrals to programs and services Many people with disabilities find their biggest challenges have little to do with the actual mental or physical disabilities they live with every day. Too often, they face the obstacles of discrimination, ignorance and negative stereotypes about what people with disabilities can — or cannot — do.
