BDS was founded by Managing Director Richard Groves and represents the culmination of 30+ years worth of industry experience from engineering through to director level. Having provided project management expertise on many projects throughout the UK, Europe, Middle East and in the USA for many of the world’s largest and well respected network operators. Richard is supported by his Directors Richard Gill and Chris Tappenden. Richard Gill is the company’s Commercial Director and brings a wealth of cross-utility experience, having spent 25+ years in the water, power and telecoms sectors in both a technical and commercial capacity. Chris Tappenden heads up the planning operation in the role of company Planning Director and has 20+ years of telecoms planning and multi-disciplinary project management expertise. The BDS team is located at our head office in the West Midlands and comprises project management staff, telecoms planning engineers, diversionary planners, network surveyors, MDU planners, GIS & support analysts and a wayleave acquisition team. Currently, we are working as a principal planning partner of Virgin Media on their Project Lightning UK network expansion project. Our survey and planning services support the ongoing provision of high-speed broadband, telephony and digital TV services to millions of new homes over the next five years utilising both fibre optic and traditional HFC infrastructure.
