COCOON is a residential architectural practice based in Ely, who create homes filled with settings which support, encourage and inspire their occupants. Each home design is influenced by a rich combination of factors, including our clients lifestyles and aspirations, the site and local environment, the budget and energy performance, plus many more. Through a holistic design approach, we create homes and spaces which are hard-working, comfortable, and playful. My past experience has allowed me to work on a diverse range of project types, sizes, budgets and procurement routes. Past projects include: a high-specification extension to a listed city-centre home; the renovation of a barn-style property to include a straw-bale extension; a 22-home development on a brown-field urban site; a high-quality 325-bedroom student accommodation scheme in Cambridge; developing a prototype, off-site constructed nursery for a local authority; creating new, dedicated student facilities for a Sixth Form College. I like to be involved at all stages, and have been fortunate enough to remain with many of my projects from inception through to completion. I enjoy the craft of creating exciting places and spaces, and believe that small details matter as much as grand gestures. I am also interested in the technical and economic realities of design decisions, and believe being involved in their delivery improves ones design approach for the next project.
